The place: Brooks Siblings on Rodeo Drive, an attractive two-story store I'd only experienced once before. Naturally, the big event was very kid friendly, featuring every kid food fave. There have been silly straws for that drinks (in plastic cups, obviously!), Grain Krispies Goodies, chicken fingers, pigs inside a blanket, Fried potatoes, cotton chocolate, popcorn company, a cupcake bar where kids could personalize for their hearts content. Pirates & Princesses was compiled by Jill Kargman and her adorable eight-year-old daughter Sadie. Both were available to sign books and Sadie was outgoing and friendly approaching and speaking to any or all the children in the party. This being Brooks Siblings, there is lots of classic style available. I felt like I had been home in Charleston, SC for any minute! There'll be a slight twist in the action this time around, of course, since Jake Gyllenhaal's Colter Stevens won't be appearing. Instead, the weekly series will follow three former federal agents recruited for a top-secret program. But their mission will be very similar: jumping into the consciousness of people involved in tragic events in the hopes of preventing them. If you've yet to see the film, you'll want to skip the following paragraph because of spoilers. We'll meet you at the next one... Still with us? We doubt that the three leads will be in the same condition as Stevens, what with him turning out to be brown bread (or at least damn near close to it) all along. Welcome back, spoilerphobes! Right now, it'll likely have to go to the pilot stage with Lie to Me/Lost veteran Steve Maeda hired to write the script. Director Duncan Jones has already tweeted that he's not involved, but given Gordon's track record on the small screen (he's helped shepherd the likes of Criminal Minds and Grey's Anatomy), we're sure it has a shot. And even though it does feel like a new take on Dr Sam Beckett's adventures or the lesser-known and shorter-lived series Seven Days, there's always room for more decent sci-fi on TV.
